Only Mad Dogs and English Men
Only Mad Dogs and English Men Even though dusty heat Settles on your shoulders The clear cut and stark Through polarized shades Crisps through blue The sky a blanket of sun As she treads on flip-flops Hums to the cicada rhythm Only mad dogs and English men Go out in Sea a glitter mid day zenith Of short shadows Welcomed cool places Where ice cold beer trickles Like you Perspiring the winter memories away Long, long days Summer stores for deep green leaves To make you so heady Drowsy washed up in tanning With bright flowers rainbow Gently nodding their fires So loose and scanty clothing it is To catch the breezes Skin is tingling warming The light freedom feeling Almost wearing nothing Basks in beaches of your eyes And puffs happy at the hot skies And at last the dusk draws long Burning red sets sheets With pink orange paints Carries you to a rocking chair of clouds Set ablaze the air While night crickets wake The cicada sleeps The last dipping shoulder slips beneath Radiates the promise To shine just it has Tomorrow
