Hope Springs....
I sit by my window Staring through the glass Pondering all my calamities past I remember my deeds both good and bad I mourn the treasures I could have had I run my fingers over my skin Caressing the bruises without and within I smile at the memories of friendship shared I long for the people for whom I have cared I sigh at the mistakes that I have made They sliced through my joy like a whetted blade I rue the days I made the wrong choice If only I’d been guided by a wiser voice I always gave in to my heart’s desires I did few things that can be admired And for that I alone can shoulder the blame I was the player and the played in life’s game Alas my errors can not be undone For maybe my battle has been lost and not won Any day now could be my last And I could become a mere memory of the past But I hope that I can defeat this anguish and fear And find the spring of hope so silver and clear Then I will stand alone but proud And release myself from Despair’s dark shroud
