A Light For All
A man came into church one day Not sure what he would find, Lately he had questions that Were troubling his mind. Many shook his hand and said, "Welcome, please come in." The music played and people sang And something stirred within. The Pastor spoke of love and grace Provided by God's Son, And there's a battle being fought But Christ already won. The man was moved, deep inside As he left church that day, Thinking maybe very soon He would kneel and pray. A few days later he had stopped To grab a bite to eat, He saw a couple from the church He had chanced to meet. He sat near enough to hear The things they had to say, About the stranger at the church Just the other day. They talked about his hair uncombed, His ragged clothes and shoes, They talked about his missing teeth, No doubt from too much booze. The man remembered many times, When he thought he could see, Every reason why some men Are not like they should be. Several days had passed before The Pastor came to call, He told the man that God's great Gift Was free to one and all. The Spirit touched a tender heart, burdened down with care. Soon the man was whispering a simple sinner's prayer. The man came walking down the aisle, that next Sunday morn; Happy now to tell the world, That he had been reborn. He thanked God for abundant Love, He told how he'd been blessed; But none was quite prepared to hear, What the man said next. He said the world is lost in sin, dying to find a way, And Christians have the only Light, To turn the night to day. See how bright that Christian Light, Shines inside this place; But out there it's extinguished, Vanished without a trace. Remember then how dark it was, Before you knew the truth; Until the day that some dear soul, Shared the Light with you. Let's not look at outward things Like hair or teeth or shoes, Let's shine the Light for all men And tell them God's Good News.
