All Yours
He came in and stood strong legged, slightly bowed, With baggy old pants, held up with a belt he’d found on the road. Red faced, teeth missing, he smiled his rogue smile, Enhancing the sweat oozing out from his pores He said, “I’m home now, at last, and Nancy, I’m all yours!” “It’s been a long time”, I said, looking down His smile kind of faded with the twitch of a frown. “Now you know you’re my lass and I’ve had things to do.” His voice pretending to be in full charge, “It’s a time consuming task, working a barge” I said, “Well now Jackie, I understand well, I too have a very good tale to tell” I lifted my bosom to give him the news, “There’s been changes here, since off you went. Look there in the cot, there’s the heaven-sent” His eyes followed mine to the side of the fire Then they widened so wide, they couldn’t go higher And for a second I thought, “He’s gonna fall” He peeked in, astonished, fell back on all fours, I said, “ Welcome home Jackie, and now she’s all yours!”
