Christmas Twenty Twenty
CHRISTMAS TWENTY TWENTY Christmas twenty-twenty—the last week of the year, A year so full of violence, a year so full of fear. It started very early with a virus that they named And spread so very quickly from China where it came. So many lost employment and at home mamy stayed The panic of its spreading just made them all afraid. And then in Minnesota a man had cruelly died And violence swept the nation, for justice it was cried. Each month seemed full of stories of violence and unrest The people said our leader was not doing his best. All sorts of newer guidelines came out from experts there “You must keep social distance and where masks everywhere!” The panic stirred division among the Christians, too, As they bickered with each other what was the best to do. When things began reopening “new normal” was the word, And still the news so tragic each day was often heard. And then came the election, with Biden versus Trump And in their many speeches on each other they did jump! One said, “He’ll raise your taxes!” One said, “He doesn’t care!” It seemed a little harder to know who we wanted there. But Christmas twenty-twenty comes just like those before When we should pay attention to the coming of the Lord. For He is still controlling all that goes on down here, And we should now be ready—His coming’s very near!
