It Matters
Green boots slam the ground As they adjust their hats Praying while they run away That the enemy isn’t too fast Praying up to god above That they live today Wishing all to silently That they go home someway The first shot rings out clearly And a man falls to the ground Those soliders, many died that day And some were never found And as the others sit at home Warm, not frightened and scared Many, many people think “Man, who really cares?” It’s just another war to fight Another fight to lose Does it even really matter They didn’t have to choose To fight this war that saves us To fight this war that sounds Like a fight we’re made to lose But they do not back down They fight, day and night To protect us Many lose their lives To save their kids, their countries, their husbands and wives Today’s the day we remember The ones that chose to choose To protect us Because, what if it were you?
