In the Mellow Marshes
In the mellow marshes where butter flies abound, a lot of curious critters here are running all around. Some jitter bugs are here with us. Their music drives us nuts. The grass hoppers – kung fu friends of theirs - hop so dang high, they kick everybody’s butts. Those butter flies that populate the marshes, they look so pretty flitting in the sun. But yikes! They are so slippery, it's no wonder nobody has yet to ever catch one. There are worms here, kind of creepy, which do no harm. The inch worm is so tiny, inching his way along. The ring worm goes in circles. He must get dizzy. Book worm got hold of a hymnal. Sometimes sings a church song. Farmer Joe over yonder grew some corn a while back. Corn stalks us now and corn dogs you might hear barking at the horse flies, who do NOT horse around. Horse flies are so large, they give us all some fear! Bull dogs and dog wood – neither likes the other. Wood chucks sure do like the dog wood though. They always try to chuck them. How much would they chuck? They’d chuck ALL the wood if they could, don’t ya know? Our wood pecker here sure likes the dog wood too. He’s a fine example of something bothersome and small. I forgot to mention the lovely smooth silk worm. It’s the one worm that’s not creepy – the finest of them all. Except for the farmer’s plants and creatures, our life is mellow here where we are lit up by our resident fire fly. Bull frog croaks his tall tales; he’s so full of bull. But if he says he’s seen a dragon fly, that one is no lie! July 7, 2020 N/A in the Butter Flies And Marshes Mellow Poetry Contest For 'STRAND COMPLETELY NEW (18) ,any form, any theme' Contest
