When I Go Out To Speak
When I go out to speak, I mean to be heard, giving voice to the spoken word. I am one of many, one of the chosen few, of a distinguished crew. Poets who answered the call, Wordsmiths, Storytellers Versifiers, master mighty mouth Manipulators and speakers of the truth. Ladies and gentlemen, Young and old alike. Tonight, those of us who are not wrapped too tight. Can only hope to hold your attention, With a world’s fair of the words. Whenever we choose to stand and vent. It is a poetic expressions event. We dim the lights in someone’s living room. Appear in the middle of a café sometimes with a Dee Jay. Making our stand accompanied by a band, in the spotlight on stage. Or in the middle of Bookstores, Bars and Restaurants. Standing on a soapbox in New York’s Time Square. That’s right I’ve been there. Poets everywhere at some point Stand on a rock and scream at the world. To say or to convey, To spit or express To give nothing less Than their very best. When we go out to speak, We mean to be heard, Giving voice to the spoken word.
