Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required While on a short trip up to Wiscasset, Maine, I found this brief letter on my seat in the plane, “My Dearest Wife, Sue”, the letter began, typed on a sheet, not written by hand. If I did read it, would it be rude and should I into someone’s life now intrude? But curiosity soon got the best of me for it was surely left there for me to see. So I continued on and slowly I read it not knowing where it was finally headed “The times have now changed and so haven’t I and I yet often wonder but I still don’t know why.” “But things are quite different and I’m not coming home, since I did fall in love on my last trip to Rome.” “I wanted to tell you but I just couldn’t do it” and it was ungraciously signed “Sincerely, Jim Pruitt” I wanted to lash out, it seemed very hateful, how could a person be so ungrateful? And why was this letter left on the plane, did someone want me to help share their pain? But there at the bottom in a hand bold and strong was the short, cryptic message “Please pass this along”. So, when we finally touched down with the plane on the ground, I did put the letter back where it was found To help pass along this woman’s shared pain with a woeful, sad letter she left on a plane.
