Rabbit Hole
Rabbit Hole By Lola Tattered robe and broken lights I woke to find the fallen sky To Heave my heart into the night The suicidal reasons why Sat up to find a sleeping man Projecting demons from his chair Fresh razor burns to line my hand A wrist that begged a second stare He watched me eat and pee as well Began to stir and find me there The reasons why I found this hell My face; it grew unwanted hair I had to cry; I was alone The man and I; we made a deal Keep me alive to find my home Forget the pain I had to feel He asked me why I found this room I asked him why he had to live With opened wrists; forgotten tombs We shared the pain I had to give Sobering as those midnight tears Then, again with eyes of crimson He asked me what I had to fear The life I left where love was sin If I could find where demons play I’d take the tides; just for a while Wash away their serenades And fade to grey; a child’s smile But here I stood with scars and ink Head full of nightmares still unmade A shade; a place; I couldn’t think A mind, insane; to never fade He asked me why I lived in sin I turned my head and left the bed Until I let my smile win I heard him scream words left unsaid I walked away and found my mind The hateful sound was in my heart I left behind words so unkind Where honest tears could stand apart
