Holding On
So the flower is trying to keep on growing, In a room that is cold and gray. She tilts alone by a window in a corner, Thinking how to make it through the day. Her leaves are becoming brittle and dry, Her pedals are dull and brown. She notices that her life is going downward, That if you see her, you’ll see her with a frown. Days, hours, and minutes go by, When she realizes her life can not be on hold. As she bows her head and closes her eyes, She whispers, “I do not want to die alone.” She feels like her life is falling apart, Yet she still tries hard to hold on. She feels vulnerable and delicate at this time, But she knows not to ever give up. Tears run slowly down her face, As she sees her life turning so black. Having feelings of loneliness and being incomplete, She questions, “How can I get my life back?” People walk by and smile at her, Not knowing what she is going through. They think she has a wonderful life, When the truth is she’s been sad and blue. As her life continues in a sadly way, She knows very well her life will be hard. Waiting for the love and happiness she longs for, She lingers with a broken heart.
