The Cleansing
I compare myself with nothing Until everything is heard I then forget what I’m becoming Until my demons get too scared And in a feeling that avails me My patience fades to night For the coming of your answers I’ve embittered this sweet light Darkness overpowers My memories quake in pain The dust that comes to settle Has made my life so vain I never seem to fight it I do not know it’s there But for the light that’s ever shining I wouldn’t even think to care Constantly reminded As the pain is everywhere And with the feelings that still guide me It is my hate that’s always heard Now I compare myself with nothing Until everything is seen I know what I’ve become now But then my answers wipe me clean Forever understanding The reminder in my wake But with the angel growing stronger I will light up the darker days
