Lux Vitae Love Stories of the Fey: In the Clouds
Lux Vitae Love Stories of The Fey: “In the Clouds” “What are you looking at Mum?” “They come in the clouds you know”, she said to her daughter “Every night, the same time, the numbers seem to grow, see there! Up in the Clouds above the water”. (Sydney Harbour) The girl looked up with hesitation and fright, It was New Year’s Eve, too early for fireworks, no starburst explosives in sight - It was that time when dark is not yet pitch dark, The clouds are translucent through luminescent moonlight “There can you see?! The glowing, there in the clouds, Orbs, moving strange Lights all around…” Both stood at the window a while, watched with strange delight giggled to dissuade fear Then within the hour the strange lights had all disappeared. Fireworks went off with a bang sheer delight strange orbs quickly forgotten Then off to sleep go mother and child Polar Bear hugs Soft pillows Cool cotton No nets for Mosquito A little chat for a while Turn off the lights They’re still in the land of Beta Nowhere near counting Sheep in a row They settle in and just go with the flow All ok, all alright Everything normal, as can be They then begin to leave Beta And start counting the Zzzzzzeeeeeeeeeee's Lights definitely out 1,2 & 3 Waves rolling on The Sea of Unfathomable Sorrow Time short and Time borrowed Dip in, swim through, go under the waves Avoid Sharks and the Locker of Davey J They swim through the waves Alpha Theta Delta REM Gamma Far from the Shore of "Now" On the bedside table a casually strewn dog-ear marked book lies askew open-paged titled, "The Scottish Gramarye, Divination and The Dark Art of Glamer" Outside the window lapping sound of real waves... In dreams they are brave 'Tis Unknown territory way way out of sight Pulse rates Bradycardian all is all right they're off and away Eyelids non-moving, eyelids shut tight Moth's fluttering against the windows Reflection of rippling Moon on the Bay Clouds spun sugar candy baby soft cotton wool sprinkled Starlight From another dimension "THEY" arrive While the two sleep Kidnapped in their dreams Dropped through the Clouds Strange Land of Tomorrow Other dimension Mysterious world Where Oceans are Clouds Leviathans jump high Several moons, Opalescent Pearls in the sky They are no longer mere woman and girl still mother and daughter are seen falling and tumbling now are Royal Princess and Queen Dropped through their Ocean of Unfathomable Sorrow Like floating leaves Into the sharp waiting arms of safe Trees and Dark Uncertain Tomorrow (Lovejoy-Burton/May 2018) “Come faeries, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame." William Butler Yeats “From gray woods they come, on silent feet into a cone of light. A lifting note, O fair! O fleet! There the night through We take out pleasure, Dancing to such a measure As earth never knew.” Seumus O’Sullivan "Faerie is a perilous land, and in it are pitfalls for the unwary, and dungeons for the overbold." J.R.R. Tolkein “I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now? Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." John Lennon “I think that people who can't believe in faeries aren't worth knowing. I just think that alternate realities make you a good writer. If your work is any more than one dimension, you believe in faeries." Tori Amos "I'm sure it was all just a bad dream."
