The Bitter Truth
Let me not speak For I fear if I speak I will never be able to stop myself For the truth never stops Tasting bitter on the tongue Yet you see Those that belong to my eyes Speak for me when I am mute Speaking of the sorrowful truth Not that belongs to me, but to us But it is not only my tears That speak and shout my words It is my hand that writes And my voice that sings and shouts Phrases never to be forgotten And how could the truth Not be bitter? With the sweat of war With the blood of victims With our disgusting lies that roam We will run But where to? When the truth is a shadow Haunting you wherever you go It is the monster of your thoughts It is on the walls of our schools And in the books of our fathers It is spoken in stories and tales And read in historical documents It is in our everyday life You poor puppets personating humans Is it knowledge you truly seek? You laugh and joke You call your names And belittle the weak It is a battle you have won Do not be fooled; it is not the war Are they not the weak, those with no mind? That is, I am the strong, the one with the million words I humbly walk these awful streets And those that preach What is it that they teach? Obediance, discipline, and respect What of our emotions and feelings? What of love? What of life? Neither the puppets or the puppeteers Will ever realize They don't want to learn They don't want to teach That my friends, is the bitter truth
