Guilty of Being Me
She was always going to love the one who was most normal. The one social media had taught her to love. The one instagram taught her to press twice for love. The one twitter taught her to follow and facebook allowed her to like. The one who was like every other pawn in society, who never questioned who was king but died for them anyway. She wanted one to share thoughts with, but I had those thoughts that kept me happy only when I kept them to myself. She wanted a person with all the answers, and yes, even lies were an acceptable currency for affection. But all I had were questions. Of existence and reality. Of social construct and morality. She didn't want a nerd, that sounded boring. She loved me when I was all whatsapp and whatever else moved the crowd. My writings drove her to the edge with joy but my personality dropped her down the cliff in disappointment. She wanted a person who would trophy her all over the internet. Perhaps my crime was loving different, or loving differently. Perhaps my crime, was being me. Elliepoet
