Whatever Happened

Whatever happened to the ideals and dreams that were the essence of this country? The very core of what we are and what we stand for. Freedom ,justice ,equality it's what they fought the revolution for so everyone could be . On that July afternoon fifty eight men signed their names to a parchment and our country was born. A country where all men would be free, a country that stood for justice and liberty. Thirteen young states banned together to form this bond as time grew more joined on. Until there came a time when thoughts went astray, It seemed some favored the blue side while others turned to gray, And so it happened and our young country was pulled apart, each side believing they were right yet both sides were doomed from the start On a November day a tall man walked up to the platform and began his words that began to say, he spoke of how 87 years ago this young nation was born . He continued to say how those men determined that with faith and unity these beliefs would live on . He spoke of the war that had nearly tore this nation apart but he also spoke of how it was now time to come together to bind up the nation and together we must make a new start. The man gave no more than a two minute speech yet it would go down in this country’s history as one that others often repeat. He never saw his country bind together again that man was killed but yet his memory will live on again and again. Sometime after him another young man with a dream came forward. A young man with a dream and youth on his side. On the cold January day he spoke of may things but he spoke of a candle's glow , a candle who’s glow could truly light the world. Only on that November day in Dallas, that candle' glow was gone. His smile and wave would be his last.Whatever happened to those leaders of old, we wondered would we ever seen one like them again. Then as if a prayer was heard a young man came forward and like a mighty lion we all heard his words. He spoke of freedom, of justice, and equality he capture the spirit of the people and they followed him unconditionally. He was a leader and hero like no other. We followed him to hell and back because we saw in him his brother. But alas he too was taken away . Gone to join his brother and the others who try to show us the way . Now we sit and watch as its time to chose again, wondering will we follow the right path and unite the counttry again.
