Sleepy Little Max

One cold, winter night... Max, if you remember him, was seen running through the white snow, leaving paw prints everywhere he went. Looking up at the dark, moonlit sky, he thought to himself... "I'm so sleepy. I really should find a place to rest." As he traveled, he came across a weeping willow tree. "Why are you crying?" he asked. With a gentle laugh, she responds, "Silly little pup... I'm not crying. It's just the way I was made. I'm a weeping willow tree. Tell me, what brings you in my direction?" Max began to explain to the tree that he was really tired and wanted a place to sleep. Without hesitation, she allowed him to make a place to lay his head. As he began to close his eyes, a snake slithered from the hidden branches. "Thissssssss is my home!" The snake yelled. "Find your own place to sssssssssleep!!" Annoyed, Max barked at him and walked away. His drowsiness began to intensify the longer he traveled. The next place he approached was a beautiful cotton field, glistening from the snowfall. "Wow! What a sight this is!" He exclaimed. "I'll sleep here and no one would know because this snow matches my fur!" So, Max buries himself within the field in an attempt to fall asleep... when a rabbit hopped along and approached our beloved pup. "What brings you here?" The rabbit asked. "I need a place to sleep, ma'am." He replied. "The snake kicked me out of his home and was like "ssssssstay away." At least, that's how he said it to me." "Oh, that's Richard," she said. "He's always grumpy! Here, you can sleep in this patch, but be careful because the farmer comes walking by every 30 minutes." Giggling, Max gently lays down in the cotton and proceeds to fall asleep... until he hears a tractor trailer in the distance. It's the farmer and there's nowhere for Max to run! "Good grief," said the farmer. "What on earth is a little puppy doing in my cotton field?" Our friend was as good as doomed, but began to explain himself the only way he could, by barking endlessly. "Mr. Farmer Boss Man Sir... I *yawn* am so sleepy... I lost my way back home and I just want to get some sleep." Without hesitation, the farmer picks Max up, takes him home with him and places him in a warm puppy bed. Max licked the farmer's hand in complete appreciation. Soon thereafter, he placed his head down, and he finally fell asleep.
