John Pavlou Poem
I am the unsaved
The unwashed
The unsexed
The unknown
The less-than
The never-man
The 13th bead on a broken rosary
Dancing on the floor threshing room floor
I press my prayers into the run-out groove
If you play them backward
I’m born again
One life
One prayer
In the arrow of time
Tracking straight
In a circular orbit
Decaying
Moment by moment.
I have beads that pray for me
Every day I do 613 things is just the right way
Sometimes you need to sue the architect
When the building fails
Sometimes the windows, sometimes the walls
Sometimes a poor preparation of he land
Undisturbed soil is your best friend

John Pavlou Poem
I tore down the wall of silence
That I built inside my heart
I listened to my own silent prayer
It told me to listen to you
It was not a silence of speaking
But a silence of hearing
Of hearing words of salvation
Of faith and hope and surrender
Somehow I thought planting
My own tobacco would keep me pure
Water and sunlight
And the Native American soil
The Peace Pipe I carved
The dreamcatcher I wove
The eagle feathers I captures
On my pocket telephone
I’m tired of looking at women
Like they are different car models
Cars I cannot afford
And rides I’ll never take
Somehow I need a gospel
A story of good news
About where we are headed
And what out inheritance is
In the super pharmacy
They sell a beverage made with wine
In a bottle with a cork
But it cannot lift you higher
