Daydream

Old cherry trees beside the church
In early bloom this spring
I got new travel film to watch
New birdies come to sing
“You poor thing, you beggar boy
Just listen to the air” -
They twee to me, and it’s a joy
To know of their sweet care
I walked along some nameless graves
I sat on bench of stone
I left behind sad winter days
Still haven’t find my home
As if by wave of magic wand
A sage materialized
“Hello, my poor vagabond”,
He said, “are you surprised?”
“I really am”, I said, and still
It seems that you’re a dream”
“A closer look will tell I’m real
He said, “not like you seem”
“You’re out of time,” he said to me
“You’re from another world
You’re out of mind, that’s why you’re free
Your freedom is absurd
Remember this, you are the ghost
Who cannot sleep at night” -
He said, and went towards the coast
The sun was dazzling bright.
