Quick thoughts on Magritte's Souvenir de Voyage

once I've broken my teeth
what will I do then?
I see the challenge before me:
"eat the apple"
"enjoy eating the apple"
"be satisfied with this apple"

but I'm so fond of my teeth

perhaps I'll push the apple into the sea
it'll become its own island
I'll live atop of it
plant an apple tree in a crevice
shout and make a show
when I get an edible apple

"it was never me!", I'll cry
"see how I happily eat apples!"

it's late now, too late to roll apples
too late to live atop of an apple
I don't like apples
I certainly wish they weren't my whole world
sounds like a thought to sleep on
