Poem
I am just a bird I couldn't stop them if I wanted Yes, I saw the bodies huddled for warmth I didn't know then, though! Yes, I saw fences and guards Why do they need so much protection? Why do I smell flesh, smoke, vomit? It smells like death. I hear young children shout for their moms Then, a gunshot. Then, nothing. A little child falls. Next I taste tears and sweat Of young men and women alike Are those what they are? The crippled bodies strewn about? I feel the heat of fire, The cut of barbed wire. But what do I know? I am just a bird.
