Dried roots they toil
Reaching to quench their thirst
Extinguish the fire
Burning up higher
Late summer sun is perverse
Scorching the painting
Left remaining
The Rembrandt of spring created
Panoramic colors
Melt and flutter
As the canvas is slowly cremated
Naturally Mother
Responds to recover
Mindfully saving the pieces
Wisely stitches together
For coming cold weather
A blanket to warm her cold feet with
