Winter’s cold chill cuts through my chin. Within its bleak and brazen embrace, My brisk days are turned brief and barren. They are lengthened into sordid sepulchral insomniac nights. I slither and slip and am hurled into hibernation. Once I stood with you immune to wanton winter’s wild whiplash. You wrapped me warm from the wrath of winter’s whirlwind. Our life moved in homogeneous harmony. With one glaring glance from you, my heart hummed halcyon tunes. I danced blissfully in tandem to your sweet soulful songs. Your luminous, lambent light shone brightly, Blazing the dark and desolate caves and crevices within me. Now I stand and stay rooted like the trunk of a leafless tree, Giving no shelter or shade to anyone. With despondent dread and disappointment, I watch the sap and serum in me going dry, And the feathers on my wings wilt and wither like dead leaves. With the flaming fire put out, winter has brashly barged into my life. My lips once so eloquent now have fallen still and silent. All the words I have carefully gleaned and garnered, Have slipped and slid into a bottomless abyss, never to be heard again. My lulling lyrics are replaced with the reverberating refrains of a lament. An icy crystallization is speedily spreading, Through my sentient soul like an ache, I have never known. Grey cumulus clouds of pain have rolled into steal, All light, luster and luminosity from my bright sky. Now my world has cracked and crumbled into a bleak void of grey. I twitch and tremble in cold as you have withdrawn your warmth. A late realization has now daringly dawned outside my door. I am not to perish and putrefy in this cold, But be dauntless and dashing to fight, thaw and tread my way, Battle the intense cold in flaming, flaring fires. After every frosty and freezing winter, other seasons will arrive . Summer is an inviolable and unassailable power within, And in its warmth I can vanquish the chilling cold. I shall wake up with a syrupy sweet song in my lips And find myself in the luminous light of a dawning day!

Dearest Valsa, beautiful use of alliteration that flows so lyrically from line to line and stanza to stanza. Through the cold, the frost, the icy chaos you resolve to find sweetness in each day. Just so lovely. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings to you for each day, dear friend!

Your alliterative words flowed beautifully in this lovely romance poem. I mean this sincerely. Your poem is exquisite. I felt such sadness when I read these lines: Grey cumulus clouds of pain have rolled into steal, All light, luster and luminosity from my bright sky....warmth. You have a natural way of writing poetry with sincerity and passion. Faving this one...Fabulous entry. Have a great evening, hugs, Sara

A second chance comes with a dawning day. This poem was so real, I could feel the loneliness. The metaphors deepen the sadness. The agony of winter during a loss struck with words of futility. A determination to recover was an excellent beginning of hope.

Sweet valsa, what a deep and soulful write this is and I absolutely love your metaphors and imagery so well articulated with exquisite alliterations! This poem gives an introspective touch and shares so many deep emotions in an impeccable manner! I keep reading, awestruck by how youv phrased such heartfelt thoughts, especially love the line “ Now I stand and stay rooted like the trunk of a leafless tree, Giving no shelter or shade to anyone. With despondent dread ” those lines hit so hard! You can write on any theme and form and still leave us readers feeling so much! I love also the title! So catchy! I hope this poem will get placed! Exceptional writing with profound and inspiring life education. God is steadfastly present with us, even as we progress and distance ourselves. We illuminate the path with the enduring love we embrace, casting a radiant glow amidst the shadowy forest, even though our young breadcrumbs may have long decayed or been devoured by the voracious, untamed forces of life. Your alliterations are delightful, my friend. The poem eloquently depicts the profound impact of seasons, specifically highlighting the severity of winter and the final victory of warmer days, dear Valsa.

"A late realization has now daringly dawned outside my door. I am not to perish and putrefy in this cold, But be dauntless and dashing to fight, thaw and tread my way," Wonderful writing with great uplifting life lesson. God never deserts us, even when we move forward and away. We light for the love we let permanently in, a trail of brilliance out of the darkened woods, though all our youthful bread crumbs may have long staled or been eater away by the hungry, overgrown wild nature of existence.

Lovely alliterations my friend.. poem beautifully captures the transformative power of seasons, particularly the harshness of winter and the eventual triumph of warmer days. The vivid imagery of "Winter’s cold chill cuts through my chin" immediately sets the tone, drawing the reader into the speaker's experience of enduring the biting cold and desolation of winter. It's a is a poignant reflection on the cyclical nature of life's challenges and the resilience of the human spirit in overcoming them.
