Roses, when they begin to fade, they keep reblooming,
unlike lilies who only really have one life.
The poem touches upon being mocked for being different,
but having such beauty that others are actually jealous.
No one should feel out of place, due to who they are,
be it colour, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, especially when a minority.
We all have a uniqueness about us, some too ignorant to see.
At the end of the day we breathe the same air, we are susceptible
to the same adversities and problems.

In a province exploited by prejudiced seasons, a minority ebony rose is taunted by prominent i v o r y l i l i e s. Biased blossoms ridiculing tones of its charcoal petals, yet blooming in the same quilt of soil as each other. Soothing raindrops never discriminate though, as scents of petrichor fuse with floret elegance, nor does the sun only shine for the privileged, as all flora sunbathes in the passions of its rays, refreshed by the same migrating gentle breeze. Scarlet beetles munch upon lily leaves, whilst aphids suck upon rose sepals. Creepy crawlies unconcerned with a p p e a r a n c e, massacre and spread like an epidemic. Until the arrival of feathered immigrants, who feast upon an assortment of morsels. In any garden, birds care not for whom they sing. They defecate on all flowers, aware all will wilt eventually. Winter frost oppresses regardless of culture, so birds flee. But, when roses crumble, they re-emerge fresher and brighter, as their red thorns remain protecting their right to flourish freely under fresh blue skies.. F O R E V E R

SO, this is a beautiful poem. The analogy between the garden's flowers and us is a real leap of genus (genius). It puts this terrible problem we have in terms that are so easy to think about and which stick to us. Really remarkable you are. A favorite!

Dearest Silent One, This is truly a beautifully crafted piece that speaks loudly to the resilience and beauty of those who face prejudice. I loved how the imagery of ebony roses and ivory lilies powerfully conveys the struggle and strength of diversity. Your poetic spirit words speak wonderfully of the shared humanity we all possess and the enduring spirit of rebirth and renewal. Truly inspiring and deeply moving! "No one should feel out of place, due to who they are, be it colour, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, especially when a minority." To illustrate this valid truth you have cleverly brought images from nature.. the lily and the rose. Man is the only one who discriminates between man and man on the basis of color, caste, religion or political affiliations. There is hardly anything in nature like rain or sun that shows unnecessary preferences or prejudices. The sun casts his beams on the rich and the poor. So is breeze or rain. All are cheered by their presence. Everyone is unique with special abilities which others may not have. So there is no point in the so called 'great' to look down upon the 'insignificant'. Instead of entertaining any complex each should learn to feel pride over who they are. Sublime thoughts, dear Silent One. Thanks for sharing these enlightening thoughts with us.

Your powerful poem while highlighting the envy that unique beauty can provoke, also emphasizes the importance of not feeling out of place due to one's race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability, especially when in the minority. Everyone possesses qualities that others may overlook, and we all share the same air and face the same adversities. Rather than being fearful, we should embrace our uniqueness and rise above the fear of being ridiculed for being different. I love the message conveyed, S!.. Hugs

"nor does the sun only shine for the privileged, as all flora sunbathes in the passions of its rays, refreshed by the same migrating gentle breeze." Very beautiful imagery and sense. "But, when roses crumble, they re-emerge fresher and brighter, as their red thorns remain, protecting their right" -- From the dust of petals roses return fresh...though their laurels are thorns. Deep and beautiful poetry my friend.

I shall convene a committee to form a commission to investigate the possibility of forming a working group to look into these allegations of inappropriate behavior within the confines of the garden...(great write SO)

Your poem is powerful in the manner in which it addresses racism and discrimination...all based on fear and appearances. Even poets and writers who are truly unique but misunderstood are the subject of discrimination. I found your poem intense but meaningful. Enjoy your day, Sara

Dear silent one! What a brilliant poem this is depicting racism and discrimination! We still live in a world where ebony roses arent seen for their fragrance, and ivory lilies rule! But yes like youv said soothing rain never discriminates and nourishes all petals equally. So why do some see things in a stereotypical manner! “ Scarlet beetles munch upon lily leaves, whilst aphids suck upon rose sepals. Creepy crawlies unconcerned with a p p e a r a n c e, massacre and spread “‘your metaphors and poetic techniques that you use to convey such a powerful poem is just impeccable! Not many can comprehend the deth of every line in this and your usw of every word in this has a purpose if only one reads mindfully!

“ In any garden, birds care not for whom they sing. They defecate on all flowers, aware all will wilt eventually. Winter frost oppresses regardless of culture, so birds flee.” just love that! Nature does not care and is compassionate and treats equally! “ But, when roses crumble, they re-emerge fresher and brighter, as their red thorns remain protecting their right to flourish freely under fresh blue skies.. F O R E V E R” yes whats important is that they do come back stronger amidst all that they may have endured! Soulfully meaningful poem this is! Just love it
