JUSTICE DELAYED, JUSTICE DENIED

"Justice Delayed, Justice Denied" Yet again, Blacks are being showcased on front street Continuing to be abused and disrespected As, I reflect on my understanding of the Justice system It's clear to me that Justice is never blind, but unfair One may say that the culprit is racism However, the sensible thought, is pure skepticism Reasonable fairness in the law is missing for us Wrongfully convicted, breeds a sense of mistrust Prosecutors are only concerned with making convictions Legally complicated, leaving the mind conflicted So many innocent Black men behind prison walls Lives not relevant, because of the prison complex pitfalls As one delves deep into the operations of Justice There’s a clear vision of bias, no empathy shown You just need to look at the treatment of Blacks America, the only country that imprison millions One may argue the metrics of the need for Justice So what happened to the element of a speedy trial When criminals abuse the system, under the guise of rights What about the rights of victims and families Believe it or not, but there’s really two systems of Justice In this country, separate, but not so equal in terms of punishment The rich get deals and the poor get prison meals Justice delayed, Justice denied Authored by: Floyd Neal May 17, 2024 Inspiration for the poem Sentencing disparity in Texas
