Contest Description

What to Submit?  Psalms 23 I think is the most famous chapter in the entire bible.  For this contest I want you to make it modern.  The Shephard thing directly applied to David, the Psalmist as he wrote about what he knew and lived experiences.  Maybe you are a cook, and "The Lord is your Master Chef", Maybe "The Lord is your Driver"  The possiblities where you take this Psalms are endless.

To address a few questions: 1. No! I am not counting syllables.  However, I will have your entry and the NKJV up side by side.  I am doing a basic comparison, meaning I won't stress over an extra word or extra syllable.  THAT SAID: Psalms 23 is 6 verses and I am not looking for 4 verses nor 8.  ALSO: It doesn't matter, if you go verse by verse or line by line. My example went line by line.  LASTLY: If you open the NIV, NESV, NLT, or other option that would also be okay.

To do well in this contest, open a bible and get the wording and try to match lines.  I will not do a syllable count, BUT I will have a NKJV bible directly open to compare your line to on a side by side.  If a line in the verse has 6 words in it but your copy has 5 or 7 that will be okay.  HOWEVER if a line has 6 words and your matching line has 1 or 2 words, that is not going to work for me.

My example:  Psalm 23 Passengers Edition (poetrysoup.com)

DON'T change the length of the chapter, its short enough to not need the abridged version.  ALSO DON'T lengthen the 23rd Psalm because it is exactly the right length.  Good luck.
