on the breath of hopes
a child’s love
is the love that’s born
to soar away …
and while we may
surrender our grasp to
grant them leave -
to press their precious
wings upon the wind
and chart a bearing their own,
we, in all our most
eager stirrings,
will never
ever …
let them go.
