Awakening to the Red Road: An Ecopoetic Odyssey 'Part 1 of 6'

"Awakening to the Red Road: An Ecopoetic Odyssey" I. Anthropocentric Dissonance
- Daniel Henry Rodgers
Within ancient woodlands, where echoes rumble, We hush the murmuring trees — for fleeting gains: Humans, self-appointed sovereigns, decree What flourishes, what withers, evolving into a species Whose hubris depletes the world's intrinsic worth. Blind to the innate value, all deemed expendable In our egocentric crusades. Like the Haudenosaunee Revering their Great Tree, we must heed The Peacemaker's teachings — embracing Life's interconnectedness, lest our path leads To the eternal silence of nature's cease. Our deeds, a dissonance, A discord in the harmonics of life. Yet, in the heart of this discord, hope stirs — A call to symmetry, a plea for balance, urgent and clear. For if we fail to heed this call, The silence of the woods will become our own.

Daniel, the depth of your musings rises to the surface in your words and images. Indeed we fight the fight between our call to be custodians of nature and our desire to make captive nature's gift as our own. Looking forward to the next installment of your odyssey. (Great word by the way!) Blessings to you as you write and explore our world through your poetic gifts.

Beautiful insight about life, nature and our connections. There are so many rules and teachings to follow. The hierarchy isn't so favourable. A lot is going on and there's a limit we can do or say to make it balanced, however, we just live and hope it gets better. Cheers dear friend on this wonderful writing Daniel.

Words that show the path to enlightenment, Daniel. A powerful poem. I found the essence in the ending stanza--Yet, in the heart of this discord, hope stirs —A call to symmetry, a plea for balance, urgent and clear--hope we heed the call.

Keen observation of the destructive forces that reside in the dark recesses of our species, threatening not only the environment but the very survivability of ourselves. Self interest and greed packaged as virtue....too focussed on immediate gain, a growing paralysis of the soul. Timely wisdom Daniel...look forward to reading more.

your poem offers such wisdom about our interconnectedness with one another and with this glorious planet (nature) I agree...our deeds are a dissonance and a disservice to He who created us. We're just not mindful in my book. Enjoyed your work; it spoke to me. Have a blessed evening, Sara

Since human intelligence came along the rules of evolution and symmetry have changed forever Daniel, we really are into unknown territory, all 8 billion of us and counting, you spell out a lot of truths here, with (I’m sure) many more to come in future episodes, I look forward to reading them, expertly written as always, cheers David
