Poem
Lionel Derbyshire

And did mine mind
wander to places
back home where I wannabe.
Now alone in still I sit at a lake
watching calm silver water
sliver into small waves.
I am in quiet ponder time
and go wonder back home.
The lake is noiseless
inert and filled with placid art.
There is bird and diverse
in a landscape ornate.
A goose sails the lake
and pass me by
in a peaceful industry of
water, tree and cloud.
I stare and gaze
where will the geese
sleep tonite..
In a chance of reeds perhaps.
Then I start to think
are my little sisters
safe and warm home
do they have a plate to eat ?
a big brother
is always wanted near..
They are too dear.
tear ... tear
Honk ... honk ..
there a gander
makes a mate call.
He is a contender.
Here the peace you feel
is your quiet strength.
This nature has all the juice
to appreciate life
which God has awarded you.
But I am far away
from my country and state.
A foreign cittizen now I am.
I ponder on my imigrate
and our jolly brigade
I left back home.
With mountain moving faith
and hard courage
I was the choice
to leave my local on mission
to send money home
for nourishment.
I crave my bornland
but here sedate I am
and contemplate
on my fatherland
though now I live in mercy land.
