THORNS HOLD RED ROSES THAT WEEP

WORDS GROWING IN MY BOOK, A LIFE OF NURTURING, IS WHAT SHE TOOK. Vickie Thayer Poet

(Pinterst Inspired Pin)

** Over the years I have watered my memories and kept them alive. Those memories have grown tall and strong and are now ready to be pruned to make room for more growth.

PROLOGUE: She loved roses, especially the red rose. She knew it conveyed love, desires and longing. The reddest rose can also be used to convey respect and devotion, as well as admiration. The number of roses received have romantic connotations associated with them. The darker in color that the red rose is, means it conveys heartfelt regrets and sorrow. Her roses were always dark. She kept a petal from every bouquet of regrets and sorrows, pressing them between pages of an empty book. Over the years those petals wept red tears, staining the pages of her book, where they had slept. Each red tear held a poem that was penned onto each page of her empty book. The pages were eventually filled with much pain, promise, regrets, love and healing. This was her gift (to herself) and today she decided to share it with the world.

The first and third poems were written from my pondering thoughts about a child I knew who was not wanted, thrown away (by his Mother) when he was a viable fetus. I don't believe in abortion. I think it should only be allowed in situations when a woman has been violently assaulted and it's the direct result of such an act. Or a life threatening situation, otherwise I feel the person is selfish and has committed a horrific crime aginst all humanity, her unborn child and God who created life.

** After "many years" of abuse... I forgave (in order to start healing). It does not mean I have forgotten or that I should remain silent about my past life of abuse, just the opposite. One should let their voice be heard. My counselor encouraged me all the way, to put my talents to work and tell my entire story. I published my first works in my book..."Vickie Hurtt's Shattered Silence", You can read excerpts of that book on poetry soup as well.

** My strength and fate is only guided by one and with him...(I Fly Alone).

** Drug addictions...Losing a child to drugs is a hard thing to accept for a Mother. Especially when that child was around drugs by an adult in their care as a teenager. Allowing them to see or to think that it was acceptable to inhale, snort or shoot up. You can lose an adult child to drugs and alcohol by way of mental challenges. Drugs that have affected that childs thinking, as well as through a sudden death, because of an over dose. The addiction can last a life time and the enabler can be a family member, friend or just a street Joe looking for a quick buck. My child was affected by family.
