Elan World - part 6 of 8
The rainbow people welcomed us with arms held open wide.
We spent the whole day teaching them the art of flying high.
When the class was done we chose their strongest, bravest ones,
then made our plans together underneath a fading sun.
The stars were shining brightly, the moon was full and round.
We gazed into the heavens, 'twas quiet, no not a sound.
A gentle breeze began to blow and guided us due north.
The rainbow people bade goodbye as the troops sallied forth.
Suddenly and without warning came this urge to speak.
In the distance loomed the castle perched on mountain's peak.
I said: "For this I was reborn and came into this place,
to save my fellow Elanites with courage and with grace.
From this point on I take the lead, your new anointed queen.
Follow me to victory, the greatest ever seen!"
The child who'd led me up till then now humbly stepped aside.
With hearts of iron we flew north, the skies we quickly plied.
The challenge lay before us and our destinies lay bare,
we spied an open window, then entered on a dare.
Quietly we fluttered in and found the room bedarkened.
To our surprise the window shut behind us as we harkened-
A voice outside the door was heard which added to our stress-
Could this be a hellish trap? We were hardly feeling blessed!
The door swung open - there she stood, as someone lit a lamp.
"So, Princess Elana, you've invaded my little camp!
You may be wondering how I knew, how I learned your scheme.
The little boy who helped you out gave in through tortured screams.
Luckily he didn't pass before he had confessed.
It taught the rest a lesson, now won't you be my guest?"
Her sentinels then led us through a lengthy marble hall,
then down a winding staircase - icy gargoyles lined the walls.
I felt a sickening dread as we reached our destination.
The room looked like a holy shrine; the duchess took her station.
"It's time to let you in on why I changed my point of view.
My name is Dalmanutha, for years I've sought what's true.
I chanced upon the True One, the god who made all things.
His fame has long been hidden, let his greatness now take wing."
With that she gave an order to the men who do her will.
Colored lights shown on a throne, we stood there e'er so still.
She clapped her hands and then we saw the object of her zeal-
a ghastly god made out of ice that could not see nor feel!
I felt a rage I'd never felt in all my youthful life.
The God I worship can't be seen, yet I know that he's alive.
I stepped into the light and looked into her dark, cruel eyes.
The time had come to show to all the folly of her lies.
"My father trusted in your love but him you did deceive.
You seek to steal his kingdom, at least that's what I believe.
Before he died he promised I would sit upon his throne.
I cringe that what I must do now will cause all to bemoan.
With that I gave the command and we blew with all our might.
The tempest we created thawed the beast without a fight.
The icy god that could not see nor hear nor utter sound,
would nevermore be seen again, would nevermore be found.
I ordered all those on my side to seize the errant queen.
The evil witch that threatened us was nowhere to be seen.
A rainbow warrior found her lying dead upon the throne,
Her ice-cold heart apparently had turned itself to stone.
The ice god and it's icy queen had hearts that held no love.
If only she'd submitted to the true God up above.
No time to waste, the precious ones held fast must be released.
Elan World could now be healed, may her peace ne'er cease.
