Sometimes
- by Bob Atkinson
sometimes we lose a lover
over fights and other things
sometime we lose a loved one
as life ends tragically
though, we didn't know them
a loss here just the same
as they gave to us inspiration
and joy instead of pain
those people late of energy
creation's their best game
some who foster good feelings
those who reject pain
and here, though only thirty
he made us smile and wink
this Jim guy on the radio
the one who sang so slick
thank you for your time on earth
you gladdened my youth so much
and fed me something to hold onto
with earnestness of trust
and here am I without so much
as a tower made of steel
not even a boat constructed
from sturdy stem to keel
haven't in these many years
approached your goodness great
but, when I go I'll think of you
when I see Peter at the Gate
