Contest Description

What to Submit?

One 5-line Limerick, old or new. No Limerick chains. Poem must be just 5 lines long. 

May 12th (Edward Lear's birthday) will be National Limerick Day, here in the UK. I am running this contest to make it an International celebration. 40 entries will be allowed. Enter your best Limerick! I am looking for good rhythm and rhyme, and good humour. Not TOO bawdy please! This is a family site, after all! Good luck!

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts. 

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
