Welcome, dear soupers…let’s try the Seguidilla, a brief form I used in my contest years ago.
It has 7 lines - with a syllable count of 7- 5- 7- 5- 5- 7- 5 syllable count
Line 2 rhymes with Line 4, and line 5 rhymes with line 7, thus…x, A, x, A, B, x, B
Example:
So quiet now, the ripples- x
lapping on the shore- A
scarcely disturb the silence- x
- a whisper, no more.- A
But who knows the power - B
the growing breakers may have- x
in another hour? - B
- Paul Hansford
Please write a NEW, original poem using one of the lines from a theme song of the musical, CATS...Note that this challenge has nothing to do with the stage play...
1. Midnight, not a sound from the pavement.
2. I can smile at the old days ; I was beautiful then.
3. Look…A new day has begun!
