A Shakespearean Sonnet, old or new, with a rose metaphor anywhere within the text. I realize the rose may be the most overly used, worn out topic (flower) in the writing world... but I don't care. You can still do it justice. Make the piece flow like music. Write so your reader can't stop reading until the ride is over...
Please do not center or double space. For me, it inhibits the flow of the poem while I'm reading; italics are OK.
Be original. A rose is NOT just a rose. Also, there are some great rose color ideas (if you need them) in your local hardware store paint section-- I'm not joking !!! But make sure the metaphor makes sense. Your sonnet(s) should be focal pieces on your site. .
Be advised - I really enjoy a great story line with a subtle, tragic turn and a captivating couplet that sticks the landing. If you need a little help or inspiration, check out Stem of Thorns and/or Night Angel... a couple of sonnets that I recently posted on my site. Good Luck!
