Contest Description

What to Submit?

(VERY IMPORTANT: Please make sure it's clear that the poem is Carolyn Devonshire's. Put her name as the author and you do not have to put CD in your title. You can say any way you want to that the tribute is for Carolyn)

This is a very simple way to pay tribute to Carolyn and is meant for those who knew her, but if you feel compelled to read some of her poetry (not having done it before) I would ask that you read at least several poems by Carolyn Devonshire to show seriousness in your response to the assignment. I suggest seeing poems in the back pages and poems that never got many reads in the past! Then there will appear a wider variety of her poetry on my winner list. And all are winners as long as you follow the rules of my "uncontest." (also you are not penalized for submitting a same poem as anybody else)

Here is what to do:

1. Go to your member area and look for "My Favorite Poems"  (I have many pages there, so I click on poets' names and see poems of all the poets I have faved in alphabetical order). I have lots of poems I faved of Carolyn's. I hope many of you also have some!!  Copy and paste the poem that SPEAKS to you the most. Which of Carolyn's poems did you find so special to YOU. That is the one I want to read. If you never faved a poem by Carolyn, you can still participate. (See rule #2). Copy and paste your chosen poem in the  submission box.

2.  Use for title of your entry: "Why I loved C.D's poem: ______________ (fill in blank with the poem's title)

2. WRITE A SHORT PARAGRAPH EXPLAINING WHY YOU CHOSE THIS POEM AS YOUR FAVORITE ONE OF CAROLYN'S. I realize that some of Carolyn's poems are going to appear more than once on the winner list. That is why I am keeping this at 35 entries. If you see someone has chosen the same poem as you did, maybe look for another one!

That's it, guys!! If you truly want to get to know Carolyn through her poetry (yet have never read her poems or faved anything) you may still enter the contest, but please take it seriously and peruse her poems, looking for one that really speaks to you.

Let's celebrate Carolyn through reading her poetry again and taking note of how her poetry affected her friends!
