Contest Description

What to Submit?

1 original, poem on the theme of .............Any Theme
Only Rhyme or Blank Verse (unrhymed) is acceptable

Must be written in Anapestic Tetrameter which is 4 meteric feet of 2 unstressed and one stressed (da da DAH - da da DAH - da da DAH - da da DAH) which amounts to 12 total syllables, but some writers will occasionally leave off the first syllablle. Dr Seuss used this meter frequently, like in The Grinch

He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before, maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store, maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a bit more!

And Clement Moore's more perfect Anapestic Tetrameter

Twas the night before Christmas and all throught the house - not a creature was stirring not even the mouse.

My recently posted poem "Garden of Love" is written that way.

Please write 12 lines minimum - 20 lines max

Thank You - Think of the feel of these writes and it should come more easily. Have fun with it and be original. Look at the type of poems that I rank highly.
