Hello Everyone and Poetry Soup as well.

I am writing this because I logged on this morning and I see I received an email from a member or who claims to be a member asking for my personal email address to have my permission to utilize what I have written in one of my much older entries.  I am writing this because I don't like this and it wouldn't be the first time this has happened.  I once collorated with someone in the past with the understanding it was for fun and for the poetry site only and then in black and white there was the name of the other poet utilizing my work.  I felt used and more and so angered by it all.  I write for the love of poetry and expression.  Nothing further.  I am not about publication.  I leave that up to others.  I further do not like the concept of being approaced by someone who I do not know or who has nothing posted or listed within a portfolio. 

I respect everyone.  May this day find you all well and safe.  Forgive me for such a piece but I felt it necessary to say and to somehow let Poetry Soup know.

Thank you Lisa. I am so sorry this happened to you. I have been hacked and it is just maddening! Like ML I block them then report it. May you be blessed with a returned sense of peace!

I've had this to happen many times. I block them and report it. I think it's a phishing tactic.

Hello M.L. - Thank you very much for responding. Yes, I know this happens. I just wanted to bring awareness. If someone wants to be a true member they would post and review and not hide behind a screen. Thank you again.

Lisa, copy the soupmail you got and send it to Administration at poetrysoup@poetrysoup.com after you have copied it block this person from ever contacting you again, it is a scam of some sort, it happens sometimes to many of us, don't trust anyone with no poems posted ~Constance

Agreed Lisa, every now and then I Google an older poem of mine and am disappointed to discover someone infringing it for personal gain...songs, meme's etc...

Hello James - Thank you very much for understanding. Yes, it isn't a good feeling when someone has been violated for a gain. I don't want to be unfair to this person but I don't like it and it just brought back all the bad feelings of when I was lied to and used in the past because someone didn't have their own material. Thank you again for understanding. I am very sorry this happened to you as well.

Sounds suspicious Lisa, I'd use the block feature, if people want others to join whatever they're doing by all means put it on the blog. Individuals shouldn't be targeted in my opinion. If you're concerned then I'd contact admin and take screenshots. Tom

Hi Tom. Thank you very much. Truly. All I ever wanted to do is just write post and review when possible. I don't like it when anyone becomes a member but then does not post or list anything yet has access to works of others. This is just my opinion because I have been through this before. Thank you Tom for your concern and for replying.
