Lovely Poems

I have been made aware on more than one occasion that "Lovely Poem" is not an appropriate or intellectually up to snuff comment to submit. When I say "lovely poem", it is what I feel; of the composition, thought and artistry come together to create a piece of art. I have a traumatic brain injury which makes reading and thinking difficult, I rely on my emotional senses. When I can't find the words because so many are swirling in my head, I find the one that best describes how I feel. It is how I think, it is how I write, it is how I comment. Basically, the more effort I put into composing an appropriate response for a poem, the more taxing it is on my brain, which will result in anxiety (physical) and less ability to read at all. Please know, that when I say "lovely poem", it is what I mean.

Lovely blog post my friend. : ) Some will complain about anything because I suppose it gives them a sense of power over someone, who knows. The fact that you do read and comment on the work on this site as well as write some of the best, most humorous and deeply thought provoking poetry is fantastic in my opinion. I have a hard time commenting on poetry as most times I have no idea what to say but "Lovely poem" is something I would love to see on my work any day of the week. You just keep being you and those who complain will eventually find something else to complain about. It is their nature. You are one of the anchors of this site, you are important and you are loved...so smile my friend

Mo, YOU are not the one who should be apologizing for leaving your lovely comments on poems. Now, here's the most important thing to take note of with regard to penning your comments...the fact that you care enough to leave one, despite your physical problem, is indicative of your kind nature. Anyone finding a negative point to your leaving 'lovely poem,' is exposed as a recalcitrant.

I find it really sad you have found it necessary to write the blog in the first place Mo, comment how you want and ignore those who have brought negativity to you for expressing yourself with 'lovely poem' If people don't understand then they are not worth the time of day. Personally I'd prefer to have a 'lovely poem' comment rather than no comment at all. Keep on being you Mo:-) hugs Jan xx

I am always thankful for any encouraging comment about my poems, no matter how short or simple! The problem with words alone, without non verbal cues, like voice inflections and emotional context (like a normal phone call or face to face) is that communication is limited and the meaning behind comments can be misconstrued or taken incorrectly. Thanks for sharing, Maureen, and hope you can recover completely from your brain injuries. God bless! :)

I love this heartfelt blog, Maureen. I struggle with writing clever and wordy comments, but I try to be honest in how they affect me emotionally. Usually I overuse the word "beautful" :) but it is always sincere. I think your "lovely poem" comments are too.

Ignore them Maureen,you don't have to explain you're self to anyone. If I get nice, good, funny, lovely or whatever I'm grateful people have took the the time to comment. We all lead hectic lives and sometimes haven't the time to write a war and peace comment for every poem we read. Tom

I thought to apologize, indeed challenged myself to dig deeper for a critical assessment when "lovely poem" was my first response, but I found that that ruined the joy of reading and sharing for me. So I found it best to acknowledge that I is who I is, less is mo, take it or leave it. (And I love the way the word lovely feels, the shape of it.)
