My book in Persian Poetry... The Edge of the Prairie.

Hi friends... Recently, I wrote a book in Persian style poetry. It is on Amazon both on paperback and Kindle. For the past few years, I have seen a lot of poems with different styles such as English or Italian Sonnets, Japanese style Haiku, Irish style Limerick, and a few others; but nothing on Persian style Poetry. I have seen Rubaiyat and few attempts in Ghazals. Unfortunately, the understandings of Persian styles of Poetry comes from the translation from non-Persian speaking Writers/ Poets, and as a result, the basic structure of Persian Poetry is missing in today's poems. Some of the works of poets such as Rumi, Omar Khayyam, and Hafiz have been translated into the English language, and when a poet wants to use those guidelines to recite a Ghazal or a Rubai or Masnavi, they fall short of the actual truth.

This book is a guide for those who wish to investigate some of the oldest styles in Poetry.

Now, how I wish I knew Persian language! One misses a lot when we try to acquire a knowledge or insight into a given issue from the source, the origin.. I do believe in "lost in translation"! with due respect to the interpreters and translators who strive to render the beauty, meaning and depth of great works.. I do believe that every single language has its very soul! There are things to be felt, grasped and understood.. Congratulations on your treasure, Pashang!
