<P>I am a proud American and I believe a patriot, and that has <FONT color=#ff0000>NOTHING</FONT> to do with my political views or how I vote.&nbsp; As I drove into the parking lot at the polls to cast my vote there were more people there then I have ever seen before...and I was proud to see it.&nbsp; The real voice of America is standing up to cast a vote and let their opinion be heard.&nbsp; It's amazing to think that we are living in such a politically historic moment and that the outcome is so close.&nbsp; </P> <P>I am truly tired of all the name calling from both sides of the aisle, neither one of these candidates really spelled out their plans very clearly.&nbsp; It seems that this has been going on for so long...the mud slinging...the finger pointing...the deception...the half-truths...the out and out lying...again from both sides.&nbsp; But to see so many of all ages out and working and voting was very humbling and inspiring.</P> <P>Like all of you I have my political opinions, but they are mine and I do not throw them around or use them to sway others opinions or point of view.&nbsp; I truly believe that my choices are private...they are the business of no other...and I also believe that there truly is no incorrect choice if you vote for what and who you believe in.</P> <P>I'm proud to see people like Chris Higgins who have a genuine passion and zeal for this.&nbsp; He speaks from the heart, he wants better for himself, his family, and his country.&nbsp; I'm proud to be a friend of people like Vince Suzadail who are willing to cross party lines becase it is what he believes will heal this country and will be of benefit in the long run.&nbsp; People like this shouldn't be heckled or have mud thrown at them because of their beliefs they should be applauded for standing up and voicing them knowing they will be the target of attacks...gentlemen...BRAVO!!!</P> <P>No matter if you vote Obama or McCain...no matter if you are Republican, Democrat, Independent, or unenrolled...no matter your political viewpoint on any issue that faces our nation, states, counties, cities or towns...no matter what I am proud of everyone of you who feels that they must voice their opinions/beliefs with a vote...and I'm proud today to be American!!!</P> <P>PEACE TO YOU ALL!!!!</P> <P>AND A BRIGHT FUTURE TOMMOROW!!!</P>

Christian Crosby Date: 12/5/2008 10:36:00 AM i am glad there is people who still have pride in this country and as a future armed forces brother i thank you for voting i am 17 and a junior and i am probably joining the army and i want to become a snipper and something along the lines of mechanical tech but thats another story and people don't understand that what you vote for today affects my and the next generation and i forgot the story but somebody won an election by one vote so the addige every vote counts is true Login to Reply

I find it rather amusing that I got a bunch of hits for a write called "Success" which was about doing the laundry but only 2 have commented on "Let It Be" which is about the recent election ... very interesting when you let your views be known how silent it can get here at the Soup. Michael Jordan Date: 11/5/2008 12:22:00 AM Charles this blog is the best Political piece that I have read - I'm no longer allowed to vote being a Felon I reckon my opinion means nothing to them and to be totally honest their's doesn't mean a whole lot to me - They all talk a good show but I'll believe it when I see it - I do love our country and will be glad when Saturday gets here because my son will be back in the US from Iraq - His tour is finally over and I hope he doesn't have to go back - God Bless Login to Reply

Let's stop the mud slinging.....we need to support and heal this country and work together to get out of the mess we are in! I keep my opinions to myself, I am no Pollyanna, and have strong opinions, but they are mine alone. But whoever is elected today, we need to put down the gloves and show that we can be united and strong. We can't be the country we were intended to be, if we can't work together. God Blessl! Vince Suzadail Jr. Date: 11/4/2008 8:07:00 AM Thank you Charlie. This is one election I've struggled with. Being pro life and Navy, and anti-oil lobbyist , I've leane one way, being pro middle class, I've leaned the other. I did cast my vote and Mickey was in the back of my mind but I actually splitt my ticket for the people I thought were right or closer to it than the other. Hopefully whoever wins the American spirit will come through and he will have the backing of the nation. God Bless. Hey, by the way, my daughter moved to a small city called Largo.
