Definition: (n.) (v. phr.) "to repair with gold" ; the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken.
I came across this word today and was fascinated by the concept of something being more beautiful after having been broken and then repaired in a careful way, not hiding the breaks, but enhancing them. The concept is a Japanese one.
Your poem should be based on this extended metaphor, applied generally, rather than the literal definition. Google "Kintsukuroi" to read the history of the word and some stories of its origin.
