Hi guys!
Well, I survived my first camping experience.
Thanks to all who gave me advice as it was very helpful.
I wanted to let you know how it went…The Good…The Bad…The Ugly
We get there and it looked pretty nice-lots of trees, rocks, etc. It was sunny and about 80 degrees…so really nice weather. We unloaded…set up the ‘easy up’ big canopy thing…sat down….and then it started to rain…really pour down. The campground was getting soaked…a little ‘river’ even came through our site. But, in about 20 minutes…the rain stopped and it was again sunny…and there was even a huge rainbow. I thought, “I’ll try to make the best of it.”
We made the boys set everything up, so that part was easy. In the meantime, we went to look at the shower facility. There were actually real bathrooms that you could flush (not port a johns) and real running water so you could wash your hands in the sink. Very cool. The showers were kinda run down but clean. So far, so good.
So I was really good w/ my shopping list and remembered just about everything you guys suggested…so I was very proud of myself. As soon as we get everything set up in the tent…my husband asks ‘Where’s the pillows?’ We forgot the pillows! So, not only did I have to sleep on the ground (DH was too cheap to buy me an air mattress), I had to do so w/out a pillow!
Throughout the weekend, we did do some things so it wasn't boring thankfully. Went on a long hike, played card games and yatzee (I won!) and I read my book. I was sore when I got up each morning but nothing too bad. The smores were great…the campfire rocked. The scenery was very nice and it was nice to get away for a couple of days and take a break from my remodeling projects.
Ohh and Paula you would be proud I went w/out makeup the entire time-primarily b/c they had no mirrors in the broom and I would have felt like an idiot doing my makeup in the rear view mirror.
Anyway…thanks to all who provided advice! Would I go again? I don’t know. I’d probably hold out for an invite from friends w/ an RV. J
