Hi there, some of you may remember me as the golden girl. My time on soup was very enjoyable and I learned a great deal from it. Harry is the one who helped and encouraged me to continue and try writing fiction and since then as my co-author, we have written three books. I have hijacked his blog because although opinionated, Harry is not one to blow his own trumpet, and as a great poet he makes a fine writer.

Growing up in the post-war slums of Sheffield Ellen - the second youngest of six siblings takes it upon herself to try and care for her sisters. Their father, Barnwell is a wannabe singer in the clubs but drinks any money he earns rather than look after his family. When one of his daughters becomes ill, he hatches a misguided plan to sell his children to gain them a better life. Retributions begin when the National newspapers pick up the story. 

Forced to retreat to the country, Ellen and her siblings are thrown into a world of intense adult drama none of them are mature enough to understand.
