Limiting Daily Poems Put ON Soup - Charles Henderson's Blog

Never would I have thought I would start writing at 73 years of age. I have thoroughly enjoyed my voyage into the written spirituality of poetry and am thankful for the opportunity. In my seven years here I have met many new and wonderful persons. Having them accept me as a friend has been a moving experience.

Limiting Daily Poems Put ON Soup

Instead of our talking with each other about the poets who put on so many poems per day, why don't we all make a concentrated effort to write poetry soup and ask them to set a limit on the number of poem's anyone can put up in a day. I wrote them about this several weeks back after being frustrated several days in a row by the poems moving so fast. I do not comprehend how anyone could enter more than three or four poems a day into contests, so I suggested to poetry soup that perhaps 8 poems a day may be a good limit. I do not know how each of you feel about it. I'm sure there will be some who say that is not enough and some who want less, but, IF YOU FEEL IT IS A GOOD THING T0 DO, the proper thing is for us to ALL WRITE POETRY SOUP ADMIN AN EMAIL AND SUGGEST A MAX NUMBER. I'M GOING TO WRITE THEM AGAIN. Maybe if they hear from enough of us they will do something about it. If there is no interest in a limit, I can live with the status quo as well as anyone, but It would be nice to at least have a few of our friends get a chance to view our new poems all on one place as they are written, instead of going to the "Poet most recent poem page".

Another way to stop the multi posting is to stop counting them - the Top Recent Contgributors list and the AllTime Top Contributors.

Hi, 8 poems per day is reasonable, I for one, have access to work on poetry one or two days per week, so I do all my responses and writing at that time. I would not be entering as many contests if I was restricted to 3 a day... just saying, what fits for one person may not for others. Posting more than 10 a day seems too many for reasons previously stated. lee

Wonderful idea... three could be the limit for 24 hrs..hate to see an occasional poem pushed down the screen so fast by risible verses mass produced on a daily basis..

Always so far ahead of me Chas there's a [poet most recent page?] I usually write one a day, on a very good day I might write 3.

Oh, I did fail to mention that maybe they could progran an initial one time upload of as many poems as you want to put on the soup, for the new person to initially get their base put on. Then the newbe would go to the same limit as everyone else. Harry that is not Poetry soup.

I alway thought that P.S had a posting limit, i'm sure they had when i first joined in 2010 of something like 4 per 24 hours, or is that another site?????

We've received this request before. However, poets new to PoetrySoup often put their poems on the website in one fell swoop. That's why we created an ALTERNATE view that doesn't move so fast. It's the New Poems - By Poet view. You can use that view. We are looking into recoding the New Poems page so that it only shows the most recent 5 or so poems by any particular poet. We are still working on that.
