New Contest and Gingerbread Man Personality Test - Andrea Dietrich's Blog

Andrea Dietrich grew up in Iowa and now resides in Utah with a spouse and two cats. She has two grown children and six grandchildren. Having graduated BYU with a Spanish major/ESL minor, she has spent most of her adult life teaching. It wasn't until 2000 that she began writing in earnest and discovering her "niche" as a writer of lyrical poetry. The internet opened up a new world for her, and she has spent two decades now participating in poetry clubs, acting as a judge of poetry contests for various magazines, for the website Shadow Poetry, and for Poetry Soup.

Ms. Dietrich has won numerous awards, as well as the title Poet of the Year 2008, from the Yahoo group, Poetry For Thought. In addition, she has won prizes from the magazines Lucidity, Bell's Letters, Art with Words, Poets at Work and SP Quill, the magazine for which she wrote grammar and poetry articles as well as movie reviews and for which she acted as poetry editor for the head editor Marie Summers for six years. Many of her poems appeared in Shadows Ink, a yearly published series of chapbooks of award winning poetry as well as in numerous other anthologies. Her short stories appeared in many issues of SP Quill and much of her poetry was published in eight chapbooks (no longer sold online).

Since coming to Poetry Soup, Ms. Dietrich has been both contest sponsor and winner of numerous contests. In 2010, her poem "Cinder Girl" was first place winner of Soup's International contest (these contests are no longer held). First, Thanks to those who took my previous Christmas personality quiz. I managed to find a reindeer and a Santa Claus among the group! MY previous blog reveals the personality of my several poetry soup friends who took my challenge.

Second, if you have not looked since last night at the member contest page, I have put up a new contest which I hope will be interesting to the poets here. It's called A CATCH-PHRASE DAZZLER: 1 IN 5 CHOICE. I give you five different 5-line forms to choose from and five different catch phrases from which to choose for your title and theme. Not too difficult. Hope you will check it out.

Finally, a small personality quiz for you. HOW DO YOU EAT A GINGERBREAD MAN? In other words, which part do you attack FIRST?

A The head
B The legs
C The right arm
D The left arm

Choose just one answer and I will reveal what it means later!!! (and don't reply that you eat the whole thing all at once. that would just show you are a ravenous pig!) Actually, I am not a fan of gingerbread, but I tried to think which part of the body I would eat first and my answer was true what it said about me!

I dislike eating the cookie that looks like a little man so I would eat the legs first. Not a fan of gingerbread but if I had to do it the legs would be the first to go. I will try and stay away from all those extra sweets this year.

I eat the head first, its just easier that way. I too don't care much for gingerbread cookies, but I'll eat them!

Don't really eat them Andy. I get my little nephew one each week. I always ask him which bit he will eat first and he asks me which I would eat first. I tell him the legs and he says that's what he does and then he bites off the head lol so I will say leg if I eat one xx
