Your views on adding Photo Poems on PS

Greetings and Good wishes to all my PS friends in this beautiful season of Christmas festival.

As some of you may be aware that Poetry Soup is changing its routine appearance and is adopting a new look more attractive and pleasing with linking it with face book. I have a suggestion if my friends on PS find it of your likings and of use.

I am placing here one of my PHOTO POEM, based on a Poem which I have written on the placed photograph. I feel that many of PS members would like to place their Photo shoots along with the Poem or some like me would be interested to Photo Poem as a powerful tool to communicate their feelings and emotions in a more effective way. To give you an example of this I am attaching herewith one of my Photo Poem ‘The Heavenly Lovers’ to show you, the feelings and emotions can be clubbed more effectively on Photo Poems.

If you like the idea and would like to use this new tool to make Poetry more appealing and meaningful, please express your valuable views. If the majority would find this acceptable and workable, I can forward this to PS authorities with your valuable comments.
I shall be thankful for your valuable comments.
Love and best wishes for a Happy and colorful Christmas festival time.

It was difficult to place the entire poem on the Photograph.

05. If any Poet artist wants to sell any paintings of Photo, he should be allowed to sell it but a margin of 10 to 15% should be retained by Poetry Soup for PS promotion works. Likewise we can give a new look to this amazing website by making it helpful to Poets and Artist & Photographers…..Ravindra

For example: I saw some amazing clouds in the sky and took some snaps. Later on my mind translated it in the form of a Poem ‘The Heavenly Lovers’ I have placed on Poetry Soup on 11th Dec. 2010. No.1. Thanks to all my PS friends James Fraser, Silly Billythe kindster, Linda Marie Briana, Deborah Guzzi, James Marshall Golf, Constance La France, Carol Brown, Dr. RamMehta, Sundari Kannan, Andrea Dietrich and Carolyn Devonshire, who have given their opinion on the suggestion of making Poetry Soup with a new feature of Photo Poems. Your fear and reservations are very genuine but one another fact of life is that it never flows on the same track. While keeping your views of misuse of photo poems I would like to once again clear following points. 01. My concept of the Photo Poems are those where the Poet display two Poems like the two side of a coin. In fact by seeing the Photo itself some ideas would start emerging in the mind of the viewer, based on the image captured in the Photo. It is quite simple and very interesting to write on themes which we see in our normal life every day. I have placed some such Photo on Nature with my Poems in my Photo Album on face book. ..Ravindra

I've read the others' comments, Ravindra, and understand their concerns about "space" on the database here. However, Facebook does offer a good alternative. I love picture poems and hope to see yours on Facebook. (I couldn't see the one posted here, but it may be my computer.) Blessings to you for the holiday season, Carolyn

Ravindra, I know this is important to you but it's hard for me to get behind something that has no real relevence for me. I can barely figure out how to post a bio photo, let alone get photos to go with poems. I am sure I would enjoy seeing people's photos with their poetry. However, I do not know the ramifications of it, how it will effect the way this website runs. We are always seeing the site go down for some reason or other. Maybe thy have a reason not to allow it? Anyway, Gad to finally see a blog from you here. I have not visited you in a while! Luv, Andrea

i have a collection of poem in this light they always compliment each other as i bring them together in photoshop creation and power point it is a visual delight along with poem in it....sunkan

I don't think this is a good idea for here at PoetrySoup. There is a world of space on Facebook where this could be accomplished. With all that is already here at the soup some people have a hard time loading it the way it is without adding more to slow it down even more. You also could build your own web pages and do this like some of the poets here have already done. So I am sorry but I have no interest in it . Love and blessings, Carol

I think this would take up too much valuable space on the site, lets keep our valuable space for poetry, and there are sites that allow this already. I have noticed since the start up of the facebook page the inflex of new people, this is not good, with the existing set up on the soup, already the system is slow at times, lots of error messages, server errors, so I do not think at this time, this is suitable for this site.. I cannot even get an answer from the administration on my contest not posting. and your pic is not showing.. but I am sure it was lovely~~

Ravindra.....sounds like there are plenty of options for poets do do this outside the soup....right now...we have a simple clean site with all poets on equal footing...would someone's simple haiku get lost amidst spectacular productions? I think so....I agree, Photos can amplify the emotion of the poem....I enjoy mags like "Carpe Articulum" which do this well...I think of Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Carl Sandburg....would their work be more effective with photos? I like it the way it is....jimbo

*TheKidsterIsBackAgain* Here's an example of what I stated below Ravindra. I had a write that I couldn't post here at the Soup because without the photo the poem would lose much of its effect. I think this is a great idea Ravindra.. I have photo poems from my wedding... so this sounds absolutely wonderful my friend.. on this site not enough space as I have tried to post the photo poem so TPS Administration will have to work on that if a majority of poets are interested luv..

I too enjoy combining photography with poetry. Such is not a luxery here at Poetry Soup (I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious). However, where there's a will there's a way. There are plenty of Free websites out there that one can construct and post their Photo Poem on. Sometimes, depending on the site, you can even enhance your Photo Poem with music or an audio narration. You can always share these sites with your fellow soupers by placing a link to your page in a blog. Just an alternative if such an option is not available here on the Soup. *TheKidsterWasHere*

Thanks for your valuable comments. I agree that in the wrong hands this can be misused. To avoid this initially it should be offered for Photos on Nature only and that too from Paid Members. Ravindra
