Good evening friends -

Just got my internet back but I'm sure it's only temporary because some lines are still down
We got pretty strong wind gusts and bad flooding but the water is going down pretty fast now. I had to evacuate but was able to come back home today...my lil' abode is up high so no water damage thank the Lord. My son-in-law's camp in Manchac (down in da' Bayou) was half under water but that's nothing new. He just lets it dry out and fixes it back up again. La Place, LA. (just south of us) got VERY severe flooding.
All in all it wasn't so bad (seen a lot worse!) and we are thankful... Many others were not as fortunate as we were!
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments and concern...greatly appreciated! Hope to be back online soon

Guess I get to keep my internet for a while!...Don't know if it's true but some people are saying that all the work done in N.O shoring up the levees, etc. is part of the reason there is more severe flooding elsewhere...the theory is simple...the water's gotta' go SOMEWHERE, they're just redirecting...Who knows? I'm not an engineer...

Tim, I am glad that you didn't get water damage. Good that you can go back home and may God be with those less fortunate thru this.

I'm so glad to hear you were out of harm's way, Tim. Thank God, you are safe and sound......and bless those folks who have to recover for the 2nd time, my heart goes out. If only we could harness some of that water to put out the fires that have plagued the west. We are still having smoky conditions in our valley, due to the Pondarosa fire that threatened several mountain communities not far from us. Mother Nature has been busy!

Thank goodness you and your family are safe. We got 7inches a few years ago in Missouri for 1 hurricane. And 3.75 inches this time. The rain circled around us for 2 days dropping more than 10 inches in the towns around us. It was like we were in the eye... We got nothing in comparison to you. It broke our drought and we were happy for that. But to live where it comes a shore... my best wishes are with you. I couldn't do it.
