The Scorpion and The Frog - Jessica Arteaga's Blog

just wanted to share one of my favorite fables and also one of my favorite scenes
in the movie the crying game:

One day a scorpion was traveling along until he came up to a stream.
The scorpion scurried about, here to there, but there was no way around it.
In order to get to the other side the scorpion would have to swim,
but scorpions don't swim.
While contemplating the scorpion spotted a frog near by and started calling.

Oy!
Aye frog!
let me ride across your back to cross this river please!
I'll be so thankful!

The frog looked until he spotted the scorpion.

What?
Give you, a scorpion, a ride!
You'll surely sting me before we get in and eat me!

The scorpion kept talking to the frog while coming closer.

I wouldn't sting you before, I need to cross these waters.

The frog chimed again.

Well you'll sting me in the end then!

the scorpion replied.

No I would be so grateful and apprieciative, for I can't swim
and congradulate your living, for you helped me survive.

The frog looked at the scorpion.
and looked
and looked
and looked
Finally! He decided.

Alright then! Hop on my back and on we go!

And so they went, the frog began swimming the stream.
His back legs strenghthening up and down in the waters,
keeping his mid-section above enough so the scorpion would'nt get wet.
He was halfway there!
Halfway there, and half way there he flet a horrible sting of pain on his back,
as he saw the scorpion draw out his poison, he yelled.

Why Mr. Scorpion!
Why!
Now we shall both be killed!

And the scorpion drowning with the frog, reaching their watery graves,
could only look at the frog and say.

Sorry...I can't help it...It's in my Nature.



I know this is not how it's originaly told just going by memory and jist.
