	Manage contests by poetry form. If your contest focuses on a specific form, you will be able to accept poems written in that form of poetry only. Contest entrants will only be able to enter poems designated as that form. This will help minimize contest entries that do not adhere to contest rules.
	Update of SoupMail interface. See received SoupMail, sent SoupMail, and send/create SoupMail all in one easy to use interface.
	Added a sort by contest sponsor column on the “My Contest Entries" page.
	Allow Lifetime Premium Members to show or hide ads on PoetrySoup
	Friendship Builder. Whether you are new to PoetrySoup or a long-timer, all of us want friends and need encouragement. This new page will help you build relationships, receive comments, and encourage other poets.
	Allow you, the commenter, to edit or delete your comments on a blog, on the blog page, and without going to your Outbox.
	Allow you, the commenter, to edit or delete your comments on a poem, on the poem page, and without going to your Outbox.
	Add a "My Short Stories" tab to your poetry page.
	Ability to delete comments on your poems. This is great if a comment if off-topic or just plain rude. You will be able to manage that.
	Add the ability to edit or delete "reply to" comments from the My Outbox page.

TPS as a person or entity, has the same right to have favorite poets / poems as do any other person or entity. Fairness has nothing, nor should it, have anything to do with this issue. Owning and/or administrating a web site does not negate this right. I often like the writing of foes more than friends, not fair, not this or that, but it is just the way it is. I don’t find the ‘List of Seven’ as a problem, actually, I like it. TPS is being honest & real. Even God has his favorites.

I agree that the enhancements are welcome changes. I read your reply that TPS does not manually choose POTD. Did TPS manually choose the seven poets listed as their favorites? I've heard rumbles that it's not in the best interest of webhosts to show favoritism to any poet. Don't mistake my question as a taste of sour grapes on my part, but it seems a bit biased.

Lin and Jan, our question is a simple one, if we list a few favorite poets (that is not an exhaustive list),how would that "favoritism" (which is isn't) manifest itself in a tangible way? Remember, favoritism is the practice of giving unfair preferential treatment to one person or group at the expense of another. So, how is the unfair or preferential treatment manifested?

My comment was about 2 separate issues. There was never any insinuation of you NOT being impartial in previous contests, BUT you have a list of 7 favourite poets which does seem unfair to every other member on soup. The audio contest soup sponsored last year was never judged I think that is more of a cause for concern

I didn't say it was "bad," so don't misconstrue my intent. I think Jan used the proper word, "impartial." I have a favorite poet list, but then I'm not the administrators of the site. And my original comment has nothing to do with contests. BTW...I should mention that I like the ability to edit comments. We've both used it and your smile lets me know you're somewhat human. :-) Since you were a daddy's boy you should comprehend what I'm trying to say. If not, your siblings surely would. I think it's long past time to drop this discussion since it's headed no where.

Thanks for the discussion, this really gives us a better understanding of why certain things happen on PoetrySoup. It's sad...but I guess it's life and human nature. :-( It sad that someone can like the works of others and another person see that as bad. Jan, also, in the past when we had contests we've NEVER looked at the poet's names. That may be hard for some to understand, but there are actually objective people in this world...oh, and I was my dad's favorite. :-)

With all due respect TPS in the past you have sponsored contests ... the one last year was an audio contest and it never got judged. Regarding favourites I can see where Lin is coming from and I have to agree with her you should be seen to be impartial and not have favourites on your list.

By choosing people as favorite poets you're showing favoritism. I guess you just don't get it, but several poets have grudgingly mentioned it. We are all children at heart, and poets are a bit touchy about their work. It's like you're daddy, and I'm hearing some of your kiddies expressing the old scenario of, "Dad likes you best." If you don't understand that, I give up. :-) I just thought I'd let you know.

However, you did mention that it is not in the best interest of web hosts to show favoritism. Our point is, how would we show favoritism even if we wanted to; we don't sponsor contests, we don't manually choose the poet of the day, we don't manually choose the poet of the week...so where would the favoritism come into play?

Yes, we manually pick our fav poets. But what does that mean? It's not an exhaustive list. Besides, it's not like we sponsor contests anymore. Even when we did, we never looked at the names.

Thanks TPS, but relative to the first (poetry forms)--means nothing if it is labeled in a form but not written to the form ie, I could write a Haiku and label it a Sonnet. Otherwise great features and BTW, it seems jumping comments has stopped but now there's an issue with double posts.

Dearest TPS, one thing I have learned in life is to never say never nor always. I was using hyperbole yet many entries listed in a form have absolutely no relevance to the form--believe me.

Off-topic for subject is the greater problem. 23 poems for my last contest "Fancy-Free" were sent in deliberately off-topic!

Why would one write a haiku and list it as a sonnet? That has never happened on PoetrySoup. LOL, LOL. Seriously though, there is only so much that we can control. The rest is up to you, the contest sponsors.
